Registrations Open for the 2026 Family Ride
Gorenjska banka provides free registration for the fifth consecutive year
The Family Ride in the spirit of the Tour de France will take place on Saturday, 5 September 2026, with the start scheduled at 16:30. The 12.5 km route will run around Kranj, starting and finishing in the immediate vicinity of the main venue at Slovenski trg. Free registration is once again made possible by Gorenjska banka, a strategic partner of the two-day cycling festival Merkur zavarovalnica L’Etape Slovenia by Tour de France.
Family Ride for All Ages
The ride takes place at a relaxed pace and is non-competitive, as there is no timekeeping. The focus is on togetherness, shared experience, and enjoying the atmosphere of the Tour de France, while connecting generations through cycling.
The route is suitable for children who have completed basic cycling training, can ride independently, and are comfortable riding in a group.
Each child must be accompanied by a parent, guardian, or another responsible adult. Wearing a helmet and using a technically sound bicycle is mandatory. All types of bicycles are allowed.
Ride Format and Route
All registered participants will start together at approximately 16:30, near the main venue at Slovenski trg, at a clearly marked location on Koroška Road.
The Family Ride offers a first-class experience of group cycling on roads closed to traffic or managed with rolling road closures, accompanied by support vehicles.
The route is flat and 12.5 km long. The cycling caravan will set off from Slovenski trg through the city centre towards Britof, continue past the Brdo estate near Kranj, and return via Kokrica back to the start-finish area on Koroška Road.
An invaluable experience of riding together in the spirit of the great Tour de France.
Free Registration and Race Number Collection
Pre-registration is mandatory and free of charge, as the number of available places is limited to ensure the highest level of safety. The organiser reserves the right to close registrations at any time if capacity is reached.
All pre-registered participants must collect their race number on the day of the event in the lobby of the Municipality of Kranj, at least one hour before the start. Participation without a race number is not possible. If a race number is not collected on time, it will be released and may be reassigned to another participant on the day of the event in case registrations have already been closed.
All participants who successfully cross the finish line will receive a commemorative medal. BRAVO!!!
