Registrations for Merkur zavarovalnica L'Etape Slovenia by Tour de France The Ride in The Race 2027 opening soon

Next week we are opening registrations for the Sunday event of the 2027 cycling festival, taking place on the first weekend of September, 4 and 5 September 2027.

Next week we are opening registrations for the longer route, Tosidos the Race, and the shorter route, Decathlon the Ride, which will take place as part of Merkur zavarovalnica L'Etape Slovenia by Tour de France 2027. The sixth cycling festival will be held on what is now the traditional first weekend of September – 4 and 5 September 2027.

A Sunday challenge in the spirit of the great Tour de France

On Sunday, 5 September 2027, amateur road cyclists will once again have the chance to compete in the spirit of the world’s most prestigious multi-stage race – the Tour de France – and vie for the iconic jerseys: yellow, polka dot, green and white. But the most important trophy remains: a personal victory and the “finisher” medal.

Six reasons to be part of the winning caravan of Merkur zavarovalnica L'Etape Slovenia by Tour de France

  1. The event takes place on roads closed to other traffic.
  2. A varied route offering breathtaking views, designed together with experts, the organisers of the Tour de France.
  3. The same support along the route as at the big race: marked segments for the polka dot and green jersey competitions, refreshment stations, technical assistance, police escort, medical care, cheering fans along the course, and a massage at the finish.
  4. International participation of cyclists from more than 30 countries: meeting people, socialising, building bonds.
  5. Strengthening camaraderie and sporting spirit, and the opportunity to ride shoulder to shoulder with Matej Mohorič, ambassador of L'Etape Slovenia.
  6. By successfully crossing the finish line, you are automatically included in the Reward program and gain exclusive access to priority registration for the most prestigious amateur event within the L'Etape Series by Tour de France – L'Etape Du Tour, which always takes place on the same route that the professional Tour de France riders cover as part of the current Tour de France.

1,800 starting places for Tosidos the Race and Decathlon the Ride

For the 2027 Sunday events we are offering a total of 1,800 starting places across both distances: the longer one, Tosidos the Race, at approximately 130 km, and the shorter one, Decathlon the Ride, at approximately 80 km.

We recommend registering early to secure your starting place – and at the lowest registration fee, too.

Still wondering whether the event is right for you?

The Sunday event is certainly the crown of your cycling season, a tribute to your hard work. A reward. Prestige. A trophy. Nevertheless, here are a few recommendations:

  • In the current season, from 1 January until the day of the event, you have cycled at least 3,000 km.
  • If cycling is not your only endurance sport, you may cycle less, but your body must be accustomed to prolonged efforts.
  • Ride in a group several times before the event, as group dynamics are different: higher cadence, communication and signalling, technical skills.
  • Occasionally practise your cycling technique in controlled conditions, ideally on a training ground or an empty car park: braking hard, sudden changes of direction, leaning, drinking from a bottle while holding a straight line, picking a bottle up off the ground, wet road surfaces …
  • If you consider yourself more of a road cycling beginner and feel unsure, take part in the Saturday event Merkur zavarovalnica poslovna etapa: either the group ISO Ride or the pairs race, 34 km long. This event format is perfect as an entry into mass participation cycling events, where time counts, not just socialising.
