Partners of L’Etape Slovenia as Sponsors of the Iconic Tour de France Jerseys
Participants in Decathlon the Ride and Tosidos the Race compete for the iconic Tour de France jerseys: white, green, polka dot, and yellow. Who are their sponsors?
As part of the Merkur zavarovalnica L’Etape Slovenia by Tour de France cycling events, participants on the shorter Sunday route, the 80 km Decathlon the Ride, and the longer 130 km Tosidos the Race, compete for the original, iconic Tour de France jerseys. Each jersey represents a specific set of values, and together they symbolise the prestige of the Tour de France. On Sunday, 6 September 2026, we will award four sets of jerseys for the fifth time: two sets to female cyclists and two to male cyclists.
Merkur zavarovalnica: Yellow jersey for the overall winners
The yellow jersey of the Tour de France holds the status of the most prestigious accolade in stage racing worldwide. It symbolises victory, excellence, and determination and has been awarded since 1919. At L’Etape Slovenia, it is awarded to the overall winners—the fastest riders by time (regardless of age category) among women and men on both the short and long routes.
Since 2025, it has been presented by Merkur zavarovalnica, the title and strategic partner of the event.

Gorenjska banka: Polka dot jersey for the best climbers
The polka dot jersey symbolises endurance, strength, perseverance, and the ability to push beyond one’s limits. It is earned by the fastest riders on mountain segments—designated sections of the route that finish at a mountain summit, typically the highest point on the course. The fastest rider earns the title of King or Queen of the Mountains. On the shorter L’Etape Slovenia route, the mountain classification is usually based on one segment time, while on the longer route it is the sum of times achieved across two segments. All such sections are clearly marked with polka dot branding.
The polka dot jersey has been awarded at the Tour de France since 1933, and at L’Etape Slovenia its sponsor, Gorenjska banka, a strategic partner of the event, has supported it since the first edition in 2022.

Visit Kranj and the Municipality of Kranj: Green jersey for the fastest sprinters
The green jersey represents boldness, explosiveness, and speed. On the L’Etape Slovenia route, flat sprint segments are marked with distinctive green branding, where times are measured for a special classification to win the green jersey.
The green jersey has been awarded at the Tour de France since 1953, while at L’Etape Slovenia it has been sponsored since the inaugural 2022 edition by the host city, the Municipality of Kranj, together with the Tourist and Culture Board Kranj (Visit Kranj).

I feel Slovenia: White jersey for young riders
The white jersey celebrates younger generations and encourages a passion for cycling among youth, symbolising rising cycling stars. It is awarded to the fastest riders in the overall classification under the age of 25.
At the Tour de France, it has been awarded since 1975. It is considered a variation of the yellow jersey for young riders, carrying prestige and inspiration. The first rider to win both the yellow and white jerseys simultaneously was 23 year old Laurent Fignon in 1983. As an interesting historical note, even before the introduction of the white jersey, 19 year old Henri Cornet won the Tour de France in 1904.
At L’Etape Slovenia, the white jersey is sponsored by I feel Slovenia, a strategic partner of the international cycling festival.
