Join the Rio Mare L’Etape Slovenia 2026 Team
Take on the challenge and secure your place in one of the Rio Mare L’Etape Slovenia teams, riding the Sunday route that best matches your fitness level. The challenge runs from 14 May to 7 June 2026.
Last year, we formed both a women’s and a men’s Rio Mare team, competing on the shorter Sunday course. This year, we are once again opening spots in both teams—the women’s team, led by Simona Fabjan, former professional beach volleyball player, and the men’s team, led by Jure Košir, Olympian and former elite alpine skier. But that’s not all. A third team is being launched this year, led by Robert Korošec, theatre and film actor who, during the pandemic, evolved into a passionate road cyclist with professional-level commitment. His team will take on the longer Sunday race. The challenge is organised in collaboration with our official partner Rio Mare.
How to Become Part of a Rio Mare L’Etape Slovenia Team
Last year, we formed both a women’s and a men’s Rio Mare team, competing on the shorter Sunday course. This year, we are once again opening spots in both teams—the women’s team, led by Simona Fabjan, former professional beach volleyball player, and the men’s team, led by Jure Košir, Olympian and former elite alpine skier.

The challenge is organised in collaboration with our official partner Rio Mare.
During the challenge period (14 May–7 June 2026), complete a cycling ride of your choice that matches either:
- the profile of the shorter route – Decathlon the Ride, or
- the profile of the longer route – Tosidos the Race.
After completing your ride, submit the application form for the prize challenge. A selection committee will then choose the members for each team.
Longer Route – Tosidos the Race (130 km)
Become part of Robert Korošec’s team, 4 available spots. Eligibility criteria – your completed cycling activity must meet all of the following:
- distance: 130 km
- Elevation gain: 1,800 m
- Average speed: 28 km/h.

Shorter Route – Decathlon the Ride (80 km)
Join the teams of Simona Fabjan and Jure Košir, 2 female and 2 male spots available. Eligibility criteria – your completed cycling activity must meet all of the following:
- Distance: 80 km
- Elevation gain: 841 m
- Average speed: 20 km/h.

Rio Mare Team Members Start from a VIP Position
All members of the Rio Mare teams will receive a premium cycling jersey, free race entry to the chosen Sunday course (Ride or Race), a VIP start position,and an exclusive Rio Mare gift pack, including:
- water bottle
- cycling socks
- Rio Mare kitchen towel
- Rio Mare tuna in olive oil Filo’dolio (4 × 65 g)
- Insalatissime Summer tuna salad
- tuna pâté with mayonnaise
- tuna pâté with hummus.
Challenge Duration and Participation Rules
The challenge takes place exclusively between 14 May and 7 June 2026. Within this period, participants must:
- complete a cycling activity by meeting the team criteria, and
- submit the application form.
The prize challenge is open to members of the Merkur zavarovalnica L’Etape Slovenia by Tour de France club on STRAVA. Joining the club is free and obligation free for all users with a STRAVA profile. Participation in the challenge also requires only the free version of the STRAVA app.
How to Join
- If you already use STRAVA: Search for the club and click “Join”.
- If you are new to STRAVA: Download the app, create a profile, find the club, and click “Join”. Record your cycling activity in the app or sync it from your smartwatch.
Important: The registered activity must be public.
